A successful career may hide the darkest of stories. Lolo Jones, who took home the USA as well as the World Championships for hurdle events in 2013, has only achieved this feat by putting in a lot of work and perseverance. Jones grew up with a poor and difficult life as the child of a single mother who was also a mother to five kids. Her mother was always in motion and even been living in a basement church for some period of time. Jones, who lived a nomadic and mobile life up until she enrolled in high school, had to move to a new school every year. Jones needed to be separated from her mother in Theodore Roosevelt School in order pursue her love of track. Jones lived in four different houses during her highschool years in order to study at one location. Jones also performed as a cellist for the orchestra at school. While at school, she won the Gatorade Athlete Of The Year Award in the Iowa Track & Field. Jones was one of the college's best hurdlers after entering. Jones was the winner of the 100 meter hurdles at the 2002 NCAA Track & Field Championship. She was also a part of the team that finished 2nd in the 100 meters relay. Jones is the NCAA Champion indoor hurdles in both 2003 and 2014. Jones has been training since 2005, when she completed her studies. In 2005, she was winning the Torino Memorial race, in 2006, she won one of the Heusden and Ostrava runners.

Brandt relocated to Cape Town South Africa to Auckland New Zealand at the end of her teens. Her talent was discovered in Auckland by local casting director Brandt. Brandt was cast as a part of Naevia in the Starz series Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena. In collaboration with the producers Steven S. Lesley Brandt, along with the rest of her family, relocated from the United States to Auckland New Zealand back in 1999. In Auckland, Brandt began as sales representative and was later promoted into the role of an IT consultant. Lesley started her career with commercial ads following some modeling opportunities. She completed her acting major and continued her training in Meisner ways of learning. The first time she was seen in New Zealand was as a TV actor in Diplomatic Immunity. Lesley Brandt was a guest supporting actress on New Zealand's television drama Shortland Street. In a later sci-fi arrangement This Is Not My Life she portrayed the city of Waimoana. Lesley Brandt was cast as Naevia the young hostage and featured later as a character in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena miniseries in the Television show Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
